A Nice Day in San Fran

Some scenes don't need dialogue.
Remember, they're called "moving pictures" for a reason.

Quotes

“The
difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.”

-Tom Clancy

"Sometimes you meet your destiny on the path you took to avoid it."

- French proverb
(Nothing to do with writing, just like the quote)

A favorite Dialogue Scene from "The Wire"

Below is youtube link for a scene from The Wire in which the characters Bunk and McNulty investigate a crime scene, using only the word "fuck," or variations thereof. Brilliant in its originality, simplicity and in its ability to evoke emotions with limited use of dialogue.

Blog #1

This is my temporary website for WriteRight, a service dedicated to helping aspiring and experienced screenwriters write better, finish their scripts, and ultimately get them produced.

I have 20 years experience in the film business as an executive, writer, producer and director. I've been responsible for some blockbusters, some duds, and many in between. I have also helped launch the careers of several successful writers, including Andrew Kevin Walker ("Seven"), in addition to working with such writers as David Webb Peoples ("Unforgiven"), Jeph Loeb ("Heroes"), David Goyer ("Dark Night") and J.J. Abrams ("Lost").

I have lectured at both the IFP, and UCLA. And I also teach classes at the San Francisco Film Society (SFFS.ORG). Plus, I have read literally thousands of scripts.

If you need comprehensive notes, consultation, instruction, advice, or a professional kick in the pants, I can help.

My rates are reasonable but not cheap. Remember: you get what you pay for. Lots of people offer their services to writers, but they have no real credits or experience.

Would you go to a dentist with bad teeth?
